THE EASIEST GUIDE TO HANG A CANVAS

If you’re someone who’s spent the last 10 minutes looking for the easiest guide on ‘how to hang wall art’, look no further. Despite what numerous search entries claim, hanging wall art is not rocket science, it’s quite simple and you can do it in 3 easy steps with our guide.

You can do it in 3 easy steps if you have a canvas from AmericanEyez, since all our canvases are fitted with a sawtooth hangar on a box frame. But before you get to that final stage of satisfaction – of seeing your canvas beautifully mounted on the wall, there are a couple of things you need to do.

Here’s everything you should have before hanging your canvas wall art.

What you’ll need

    • A clean surface
    • A pencil

  • A nail, or two
  • A hammer
  • A measuring tape

Let’s begin -

Step 1 - Mark the Wall Space

Hold your canvas or canvases to the wall and visualise how you want it displayed. Clean up your wall to remove any dust. Once done, using the pencil, mark the point in the wall at the middle of the canvas. The top of your canvas will be slightly above the pencil mark, so keep that in mind when mapping out your canvas. If you’re wondering how high to hang the wall art, a good rule of thumb, is to have it at eye level – approximately 5.5 feet from the floor level.

Step 2 - It’s Hammer Time!

Get your nail and hit it right smack in the middle of your pencil mark with your hammer. Ensure you give it a few strong hits so the nails goes directly into the wall, without chipping the sides of it off.

Step 3 - Hang it Up

You’re almost done. See, we did promise you that hanging wall art would be easy! Position the sawtooth hangar directly on the nail, ensure its fit within the grooves and against the wall, so it doesn’t move around. Et Voila! Your canvas is up! If you’re creating a wall gallery for your home or your office and got more canvases to hang, use the measuring tape to maintain a uniform distance between each canvas. Repeat steps 1-3 until you’re done and ready to admire your hard work.
